Former Kia CEO Chung in 2006 with Georgia Gov. Perdue Defective wiring in Kia Motors’ Soul and Sorento vehicles has led to the resignation of the Korean automaker’s CEO.
As worldwide recalls topped 100,000 cars with suspected poorly soldered wires in doors that could lead to potential fires, Chung Sun-Eun, Kia’s chief executive and vice chairman, quit his position as head of the company. About 35,000 Sorento sedans and Soul wagons in the United States are part of the recall.
Lee Hyoung-keun replaces Chung.
Kia is a partner of Hyundai Motor Co., also of Korea, and has a U.S. plant in West Point, Ga.
