384,000 Hondas recalled for potential ‘roll-aways’

2003 Honda AccordHonda Motor said on August 10 it will recall 384,000 vehicles over concerns that the ignition interlock could fail, which allows vehicles to roll away, Detroit News reported.
The recall of 2003 Honda Accord and Civic models, 2003-2004 Element vehicles follows a nearly two-year investigation by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

As part of Ford’s strategy to divest itself of higher-end European vehicles, the U.S. automaker closed its deal with China-based Zhejiang Geely Holding Group, which owns and manufactures the Geely vehicle line. -Read more-

Despite recent headlines concerning vehicle recalls, recalls were much more of a concern in decades past, reports an analysis by Edmunds.com, Santa Monica, Calif.
“Recall numbers have been remarkably high since the mid-’90s when car technology really began getting complicated, but this year they’ve been far more publicized,” said Edmunds.com’s senior analyst, Ray Zhou. February gas demand at record level

Will Utah ban aftermarket exhausts?
Tue, 02/23/2010 - 01:00 | by afarbAs reported by SEMA, through its government affairs division, a "substitute bill to ban the use of most aftermarket exhaust systems has been introduced in the Utah Legislature and passed by the [state's] Senate Transportation Committee," and will move "to the floor of the senate for a vote by all members. Under the substitute bill, all vehicles must be equipped with an exhaust system that is 'installed by the original manufacturer of the vehicle and is not modified; or meets specifications equivalent to the muffler installed by the original manufacturer of the vehicle and is not modified.'"
Shareholders OK Spyker deal for Saab

With an overwhelming yes to the purchase of Saab from GM, shareholders at Dutch luxury carmaker Spyker have saved the Swedish brand from oblivion.
The approved purchase price was $74 million.
Spyker’s CEO, Victor Muller, also said the combined company would apply for stock listings on the London and Swedish exchanges.
