Over the years Martin Barkey, president of MBRPinc, Hunstville, Ont., a performance exhaust company, has been able to indulge in his real passion — building project vehicles. And one of the things that makes that work so much fun is that people who started out as sponsors have become true friends. “It’s reached the point where all I have to do is mention that I have an idea for a project and they respond with, ‘Tell me what you need,’ Barkey says.“These are people that I can really count on when it’s crunch time.”
Not surprisingly, “crunch time” usually arrives around the third week of October when the wrenching gets furious and the SEMA deadlines won’t budge any further.
MBRPinc’s ’09 Challenger project was no different, and the fact that Barkey was working with various shops hundreds of miles apart didn’t make the logistics any easier. But these guys have proven themselves to be masters in their respective crafts and always willing to push the envelope just a bit further.
Terry DeLong at Pro Glass provided the shaker hood, and rear deck lid, ensuring that this car looks retro-fast just sitting in the driveway. Toyo Tires contributed Proxes 4’s, 245/40ZR20 for the front and 275/40ZR20 for the rear. Rene from Xtreme Customs mixed up an impressive black with orange pearl overlay that worked perfectly with the traditional factory orange and then sealed it all up with a clearcoat from PPG. WithRon Gibbs Airbrushing applying the pinstriping, this car went from stock cool to SEMA spectacular.
Of course, automotive beauty has to be more than skin deep. Cary Pangrac from ATI/ProCharger hooked MBRPinc up with its supercharger/intercooler setup, while Bill Floyd from Dynatech added long tube headers and high-flow cats. A Pro-Kit from Ryan Hoegner at Eibach Springs not only ensured impressive handling but gave the vehicle a much more muscular, athletic stance.

The R&D crew from MBRPinc added its unique sense of style and performance. Tweaking the exhaust design through successive prototypes and test runs on the dyno and track, the crew was able to produce a system that not only sounds awesome but delivers 29HP and 25 ft./lb. of torque over stock.
Finishing the system off with retro ’70’s style quad tips, the end result is a clean-looking car with style and performance.
