Inside the Business: C-C-C-Cool Camaro

(Issue: December 2009 - Author: Restyling Staff)

You can’t talk about Camaros, especially 2010 Camaros, without using the word hot  or sizzling or so cool or Man, I gotta have one of those. OK, it takes a lot of words to talk about the 2010 Camaro. And that’s just for the stock car.

But wait till someone like Ted Nakayama and his crew at Montage Motoring in Anaheim, Calif., in the OC get a hold of one of these hot, new babies. What they do with one turns a grown-up into a kid on Christmas morning.

Nakayama and company make their customers worldwide go giddy and gaga with their restylings of new Camaros, Escalades, Hummers, Challengers and Navigators - just to name a hefty handful of popular vehicles they work with.

“Our main customers are car dealers in Japan, Australia, New Zealand, China, Middle East, Africa, Indonesia and India,” Nakayama says. And “our popular list of conversions includes wheels, custom interiors, exhaust, suspensions, performance upgrades, and exterior and interior accessories. We work closely with manufacturers such as Defenderworx, Giovanna Wheels, T-Rex Billet Grilles, Xenon, McGaughys suspensions, just to name a few.”

For this 2010 Camaro that’s headed offshore, here’s what the Montage Motoring folks did with the original:

Interior: Custom black leather and red suede combination interior on seats and door panels; Defenderworx billet shifter Lloyd floor mats.

Exterior: Defenderworx billet accessories: fuel door, side louvers, billet bowties and badges; plus additional side window louvers. Add on T-Rex billet grilles.

Go a little lower and under for Pfadt Race Engineering sway bars and lowering coils; and Bassani exhaust.

Give it some high-steppin’ shoes, Gianelle Santorini wheels 22x9 and 22x10.5 flat black with red rings and finish ’em off with some nice, rubber, Yokohama 255/35/22 and 285/35/22 tires.
